Nakakita Chieko
Bio
Nakakita joined Toho in 1944 after graduating from film school. She appeared in early films by Kurosawa Akira, such as One Wonderful Sunday (1947) and Drunken Angel (1948), and became a regular in the works of director Naruse Mikio, earning a Blue Ribbon Award for her performance in Lightning (1952).
She married legendary Toho producer Tanaka Tomoyuki in 1950. Genre fans recognize her from her roles in The Last War (1961), where she played a mother separated from her family, and Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966). In her later years, she became a familiar face on television commercials for Nippon Life Insurance, earning the nickname "Nissei's Auntie."
